After you have found enough people, contact your local police department. You will need to organize a regular meeting schedule for your neighborhood watch group and your police liaison.
When you have determined a time and place to hold your meetings, publicize your event to the neighborhood. The most effective way to let everyone in your neighborhood know about the neighborhood watch group is to knock on every door and speak to the resident. Flyers and mailings also work well. Your police liaison may be able to help you obtain neighborhood watch signs to post throughout your community.
It is often beneficial to involve community leaders in your group. City council members, church leaders and small business owners are part of the neighborhood and usually want to be included in neighborhood watch programs. They may want to speak at the meetings or donate to the cause.
